Stony Brook State Park

Stony Brook State Park is located off of NY 36, just off I-390 by Dansville. It is not far from Letchworth State Park, and is a nice stop between Letchworth and Watkins Glen and other Falls in the Finger Lakes area.

The Park has all sorts of activities and is quite popular and well visited. The gorge trail follows the creek from the lower park to the upper park. There are numerous small falls and areas to play in the water. There are three main falls. The lower falls is the most impressive of the three, followed by the upper falls. The gorge trail does not actually go all the way to the upper falls, and you will probably have to get your feet wet if you want to see the upper falls.

Letchworth State Park

Letchworth State Park, renowned as the "Grand Canyon of the East," is one of the most scenically magnificent areas in the eastern U.S. The Genesee River roars through the gorge over three major waterfalls between cliffs--as high as 600 feet in some places--surrounded by lush forests. Hikers can choose among 66 miles of hiking trails. Trails are also available for horseback riding, biking, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Letchworth offers nature, history and performing arts programs, guided walks and tours, a summer lecture series, whitewater rafting, kayaking, hot air ballooning and a pool for swimming. Winter activities include snow tubing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. The historic, completely restored Glen Iris Inn is open to the public for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Banquet and catering services are available for your special events.

Finger Lakes Wineries

Wineries
Because of the location and climate there are dozens of award-winning vineyards surrounding many of the lakes, complete with wine-tasting tours for a relaxing weekend.

Picture yourself driving along a narrow, long, beautiful lake carved by glaciers over 10,000 years ago. The lake winds among gentle sloped hillsides that drop to the lake. The sign of a boutique winery comes into view. As you enter the winery you immediately sense by the decor and welcome that this is a special place. The wines are of exceptional quality, deserving the earned reputation of consistently winning medals, including the coveted Governor's Cup. It is also enjoyable to hear more about the winery's history as well as its goals, dreams and values. You leave confidant that each bottle will add the perfect touch to a special meal or get together with friends. You realize that you have discovered one of the best kept secrets in the Finger Lakes- Keuka Spring Vineyards. This is a place you will return to and share with friends.

An educational, "living museum" and history center which attempts to replicate a 19th-century village. The museum is open May-October, and during that time visitors can tour a number of carefully restored houses, barns and businesses. Museum staff dress in period clothing and demonstrate 19th-century craft and commerce in facilities like the barns or restored blacksmith shop.

In addition to the village, the complex also houses a number of other attractions. The [WWW]John L. Wehle Gallery of Art has a large collection of wildlife and sporting art. The adjoining Genesee Country Nature Center has 175 acres which can be used for nature hikes in the summer and skiing in the winter. The Carriage Museum has a large collection of 19th- and 20th-century horse-drawn vehicles, and the Heirloom Gardens include 13 ornamental plots in different styles.
